1. Laser Cut Jewelry:

My bread and butter! I started my laser business back in 2014 and jewelry quickly became what I focused on. I was making all the things; coasters, decorations, magnets, but the one thing that was selling the most was my jewelry!

This led me to make more, and more and before I knew it, I had myself a laser cut jewelry brand.

Jewelry can be a fantastic entry point. It can be a high-volume, low-material-cost product. You can create intricate designs from wood, acrylic, or leather to sell directly to consumers or wholesale!

If you have a lot of scrap pieces hanging around from other projects, try out some jewelry pieces! It could be your next best seller!

2. Engraved Drinkware Business:

With a rotary attachment, you can engrave mugs, tumblers, and glassware for individual buyers or bulk orders for events and companies. This is a high-demand, high-profit niche.

One of the biggest benefits of trying this laser business on for size, is that you can do mock ups of designs before you ever make a product, thus saving you on materials costs. You can then show them to your following and they can help you pick out which design to produce!

Alternatively, you can get yourself a portable laser with a rotary, like this WeCreat Lumos, and engrave a cup or tumbler at events! I just did something similar, and people loved it!

3. Custom B2B Signs:

You can focus on creating customized business signs, plaques, and directional markers for local offices, stores, and restaurants. This business model allows for higher-ticket, repeatable projects.

Make a catalogue of past customer requests or create templates for people to easily choose from. People appreciate the inspiration!

Word of mouth to other businesses will easily spread once you establish yourself in an office park, or strip mall!

4. Personalized Pet Products:

People love their pets! Start by creating engraved pet ID tags, custom food bowl stands, or memorial plaques. This is a high-demand market with very emotional buying power.

You can hone in on certain dog breeds, or start broad with general pet items! It’s easy to start making all sorts of things, and then see what people respond to the most!

You might start with collars and end up as the personalized food bowl guy! Who knows?

5. Wedding & Event Decor:

People are always looking to make the most special day of their life one to remember! Cater to this high-value niche by creating custom cake toppers, center pieces, seating arrangements, engraved guest books, and more!

Create large sets with the nearly newlyweds’ fonts and color combos. Depending on the size of the wedding, you could be making hundreds or even thousands of dollars per wedding.

Weddings are a $414 BILLION dollar industry! If you could tap into that even by .0000001%, you’ll be making a living!

6. Engraved Photo Gifts:

Offer a unique service by taking customers’ favorite photos and engraving them onto wood, slate, or even acrylic! This taps into the sentimental market and creates deeply personal products.

There are so many different ways you could approach this business! You could have a selection of materials to engrave the photo onto and add on some upgrades! Perhaps you could engrave the picture on acrylic, and offer a wood frame as an upgrade, or vice versa!

These are especially huge for seasonal items, like ornaments. And celebrations, like birthdays and anniversaries!

7.Custom Stencils:

This is a great low-cost, high-utility business that taps into the DIY niche. You can cut custom stencils from mylar, MDF or acrylic for crafters, painters, and even businesses that want to put their branding on products or even walls!

If you were to get in cahoots with an interior decorator you could land regular order requests! Inspire potential customers by showing how to use them with social media videos and watch the orders roll in!

8. Educational Tools & Toys:

If you thought weddings were an expensive industry, kids has it beat by 100s of billions! One of the top growing niches within the younger educational space is tactile and Montessori toys.

Plus, a lot of people are trying to stay away from plastics, especially when it comes to their kids.

Create puzzles, flashcards, geometric shapes, or educational kits for children and teachers alike! This appeals to a market focused on learning and development.

No matter which niche you choose within this space, these can be easily be marketed toward the parents of young kids.

9. B2B Corporate Gifts & Awards:

Target companies that need awards, branded items, or employee gifts. You can engrave plaques, trophies, or even branded promotional items like keychains or tumblers!

Not only can you land large order requests, but after establishing yourself with a business, these are likely to come again and again throughout the years!

And the best part is, these businesses are going to need a large quantity for their employees and customers! I find, it can be a lot easier to make things in large batches!

10. Custom Stamps & Tools:

This is a perfect service for other small businesses that don’t have a laser! Use your yours to create custom stamps for packaging or even wax melt stamps!

I can tell you, I’ve made myself a bunch of stamps I use everyday for my business, and I know other people would love a chance to make their business life a little easier with a reusable stamp!

Think beyond a return address stamp with custom business logos, thank you for your order stamps, or even handmade by XX stamps! Sell them as custom sets to set your self apart!

11. Wood & Acrylic Blanks Supply:

If the idea of coming up with products is a bit too much, try selling pre-cut blanks or design kits to other crafters and creators! This is a business-to-business model that provides consistent sales.

You can make them to order, or stock up the most popular shapes and sets to make shipping out orders a breeze! You’d be surprised how many people just want large blank clear circles and squares!

Make fun shapes to spark your customers imagination! This niche is easy to market when you show the possibilities your customers can make! You could become a craft influencer as an added bonus!

12. Custom Coasters & Trivets:

A simple product to make, coasters are a great entry point. They can be sold as personalized gifts or what I suggest is selling them in bulk to coffee shops, breweries, and hotels!

Bulk is the way to go! This is a great idea for a part time side-hustle to get your bearings.

If you find one design is selling more than most, take that design and branch out to keychains and magnets! Once you get established, your customers will start making requests, and help you grow your laser business journey!

13. Leather Products & Engraving:

Offer personalized leather patches for hats, engraved wallet designs, or even custom luggage tags.

Working with leather opens up a new set of product possibilities! If leather is a material you enjoy, think of what kind of niches you could pair with that.

When I was working with leather, my #1 request was engravings on wallets. But, the best thing is, you could potentially even make your own wallets and badge holders!

Browse what other laser people have to offer and see how you can differentiate. Perhaps you offer specialty leathers or rare colors?

Here’s a tip, last Christmas, my dad wanted a 3 fold wallet, and I couldn’t find a handmade one anywhere. Sure there were bi-folds, but…. You gotta find a hole and fill it!

14. Miniatures

Target the DIY hobbyist and model makers market with custom miniatures! This idea is a great way to combine niches, such as dollhouse furniture with a gothic castle appeal! You can recreate everything in real life with the cutting and engraving power of your laser!

Cut tiny intricate parts not only for dollhouses, but for architectural models or even boardgame accessories with materials like wood, acrylic or even cardboard!

This is a great way to sell specialized, high-value components with very low material costs.

Differentiate yourself with raw sets customers have to glue together and paint, or offer a fully completed sets!
