If I can do it, so can You!!
Today, we’re diving into the sometimes frustrating, but ultimately rewarding world of being a full-time handmade laser entrepreneur.
Adapting and Rolling with the Punches
Being an entrepreneur is all about adaptability, right? When I started, I primarily made laser cut signs, now I make jewelry and I experimented with plenty of other things along the way! I even tried a storefront for 2 years and I couldnβt get it where I wanted, so I went back to focusing on what was working.
You always need to have a backup plan. What if Etsy shuts down or kicks you out? What if the craft events you set up at stop? Be prepared to pivot! Trends change and so did I, and so will you.
You canβt Please Everyone (and that’s Okay)
You’re going to encounter some, shall we say, “interesting” customers. The ones who want a personalized product for the price of a penny, the ones who message you at 3 am with very specific (and frankly, unrealistic) requests. My personal favorite is bad reviews because of what the postal service failed at. (Which I have no control over) Just remember, you can’t take it personally.
And! some products, no matter how awesome you think they are, just won’t sell. I have made hundreds of products over the years and a fraction have been truly successful.
Success is a Laser-Focused Journey
The good news? You get out what you put in. There’s no magic laser that guarantees you mega riches. Building a successful business takes hard work, dedication, and the willingness to learn constantly. Soak up all the tutorials, workshops, and information you can find. Knowledge is power, and laser power isβ¦ well, pretty darn powerful too.
The Most Important Step: Just Start!
But the absolute most important thing? Don’t get stuck in analysis paralysis. Just start! Take that first step, create your first product, launch your online shop. You’ll learn, you’ll adapt, and you might even (hopefully) make some money along the way.
So, are you ready to embrace the laser life, crust and all? If you are, Iβve got some homework for you.
